AWAPUNI TRACKWORK Tuesday, July 23 By RON GURNEY Father Lenihan and Lincoln Star were in fine touch when galloping together at Awapuni this morning. Fast work took place on the plough (good) and on the No 1 grass (heavy). Fog prevented the timing of some gallops. Father Lenihan and Lincoln Star used the plough and were paired over 800m in 49.7, the last 600 in 36.6, with both horses revelling in their work. Thursday's Manawatu entrant Lincoln Dreamer (mdn 1200m) and Johnny Lincoln, who goes to Levin on Saturday (r82 mile), were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.5.4, the last 600 in 37.6, and look great each-way chances this week. Sophia Magia, in at Manawatu (r65 1400m), worked alone over 1000m in 1.5 even, the last 600 in 38.5, and this mare is very close to an overdue success. Bawl Tyre and a Zacinto gelding, both trained by Lisa Latta, covered 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 38.6, while Hypatia and an Alamosa gelding came up with 52.6 and 38.7. Wotarocker and Princess Ani, both trained by Mike Breslin, did nice work over 800m in 54.4, the last 600 in 38.3, and top galloper Authentic Paddy was kept to 52.7 and 39.4. Kings Kite , who runs on the flat Thursday (mdn 2100m No 1), worked from post-to-post (1400m), running his final 1200m in 1.24.9, the last 600 in 42.3, and Just Fabulous went 600m in an easy 43.4. On the No 1 grass, Salt 'n' Pepper (mdn 1200m) and Fully Charged (r65 1400m), both trained by Marieke Simons, ran 800m in 55.7, the last 600 in 38.7. The blinkers go on Salt 'n' Pepper. Keep It Savvy (r65 1400m) and Levin Ryder Stakes entrant Platinum Spirit were not chasing the clock over 1000m in 1.10.8, the last 600 in 41.3. The blinkers come off Keep It Savvy at Manawatu.
