AWAPUNI TRACKWORK Tuesday, July 30 By RON GURNEY Winter Cup entrants Platinum Rapper and Rock Island Line are at the top of their game heading to the Grand National meeting at Riccarton on Saturday. The two horses worked together in fine style at Awapuni this morning when galloping on the plough (good), cutting out 800m in 49.1, the last 600 in 36.9. Though beaten by almost 15 lengths in the Opunake Cup (1400m) last start, Platinum Rapper was far from disgraced and will appreciate the step back up to the metric mile on Saturday under his light weight. Rock Island Line, who did win at Opunake (r72 1400m), has also been nominated for the r72 1400m at Riccarton as well as the Winter Cup. Lincoln Hills and form maiden Lincoln Town (by Tavistock) warmed up from the 1000m (1.6.2) to run home their final 800m in 49.3, the last 600 in 36.6. Father Lenihan (r72 1800m) and Lincoln Star (r65 mile), two more heading to Riccarton, covered 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 37.6, while Hasler Lad (3yo 1200m) and Princess Amelie came up with 50.6 and 37.7. Jessiegee worked alone over 800m in 53.1, the last 600 in 39.1, while her stablemates Princess Ani and Wotarocker ran 1000m in 1.11.6 and 39.4. Here Comes Trouble, who disappointed at Awapuni after winning a Foxton trial beforehand, sprinted 600m in 39.6, and her stablemate Just Fabulous was kept to 800m in 57.6 and 42.1. Hank Moody and a Road To Rock gelding ran an easy 600m in 43.6. On the No 1 grass, Empower was timed 800m in 53.6, the last 600 in 39.2, while stablemates Derecho and Showshanelle (by Showcasing) sprinted 600m in 40.6.
