AWAPUNI TRACKWORK Thursday, September 19 By RON GURNEY Lincoln Hills may be racing out of his grade on Saturday, but could be a winning prospect after his solid final trial at Awapuni this morning. Fast work during a quiet gallop session took place on the plough (good) and on the No 1 grass (dead). Lincoln Hills used the plough and had stablemate Free To Shine (by Encumbered) for company over a bold 800m in 47.1, the last 600 in 35.6. Lincoln Hills, who is in the r82 1400m at Hastings, made up a lot of ground on the first day of the carnival (r72 1300m). With a little more luck in transit he would have paid a dividend. Free To Shine is a maiden three-year-old who placed twice in three starts as a two-year-old. She finished second in a Levin jump-out (1000m) last week. Akela Belle anfd Platinum Spirit were paired over 800m in 51.2, the last 600 in 37.2, while a Zed filly and a Road To Rock gelding, both with Roydon Bergerson, clocked 51.7 and 38.4. Hastings runners Heni and Jessiegee, rivals in the open 1200m, warmed up from the 1000m mark (1.8.8) to run home the final 800m in 51.5, the last 600 in 38.2. Heni is ready to turn her form around. A Proisir filly and a Squamosa filly, two-year-olds with Lisa Latta, ran 800m in 53.4, the last 600 in 38.1, while a Niagara filly and a Dalghar filly, two more two-year-olds from that barn, recorded 53.5 and 38.6. A Pride Of Dubai filly, who won at the Levin jumpo-outs last week, and a Burgundy filly, more two-year-olds with Latta, were timed 800m in 54.1, the last 600 in 38.3. A Proisir colt and a Super One colt from Latta's stable sprinted 600m in 39.3, and an Echoes Of Heaven gelding trained by Jeff Lynds went 800m in 54.6 and 39.7. On the No 1 grass, Lovetokeephim had owner-trainer Kim Clapperton aboard over 800m in 52.5, the last 600 in 38.3, while Before Dawn and an Iffraaj gelding posted 53.6 and 39.3.
