AWAPUNI TRACKWORK Tuesday, October 22 By RON GURNEY Mike Breslin-trained stablemates Jessiegee and King Cougar, both heading to Trentham, impressed on-lookers with a first-class trial at Awapuni this morning. Fast work was held on the (dead) course proper, on the plough (good) and on the No 1 grass (dead). Jessiegee (Thompson Hp) and King Cougar (r82 1200m) used the course proper and were able to reel off 1000m in 1.5.8, the last 600 in 35.3. They are right on target for respective events on Saturday. Form two-year-olds Platinum Dubai and Amosia, both in the Wellesley Stakes (1000m), were paired over 800m in 49.1, the last 600 in 35.9. Platinum Dubai scored on debut at Otaki late last month, and Amosia finished second at Tauherenikau a fortnight ago. Tiro, in at Woodville on Thursday (r65 mile), and Trentham runner Just Fabulous (r65 1400m) covered 1200m in 1.19.1, the last 600 in 36.4, and their stablemate Hank Moody (r72 mile) went alone in 1.20.4 and 36.6. Lucy Tanner-trained Belle Plaisir, off to Trentham (3yo 1200m), and an Alamosa maiden with Matthew Eales were on terms throughout 800m in 49.5, the last 600 in 36.8. Shadows Cast, aiming toward the Coupland's Mile at Riccarton, had stablemate Master Fin alongside over 1000m, coming the final 800m in 51.6, the last 600 in 36.6. Master Fin is in at Trentham (r82 2400m). Sweepstake (r82 1200m) and Young Squire matched strides over 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 36.9, and Sir Nate (Thompson Hp) teamed up with Platinum Wild Card to run 53.7 and 36.8. Proletariart had stablemate D'blues for a partner over 1000m, but were only timed their last 600, which took 36.8. Dark Princess, out to defend her title in the Thompson Hp on Saturday, worked with maiden stablemate Makoura Lodge (Woodville) over 1200m in 1.19.4, completing the final 800m in 49.9, the last 600 in 37.5. Lucy-Tanner-trained My Father's Gun, unlucky not to have paid a dividend at Hawera last start, galloped with un-raced Falkirk three-year-old Durham Lad (Matthew Eales) over 1000m in 1.9.5, coming the final 800m in 50.9, the last 600 in 37.6. My Father's Gun goes to Trentham (r65 1400m). Fully Charged (r65 2200m) caught the eye with a very tidy 1000m in 1.11.5, the last 600 in a nice 37.5, and race rival Floral Art ran 800m in 51.6 and 37.2. Thompson Handicap chance Platinum Invador and Sentimental Miss were locked together over an even 800m in 53.1, the last 600 in 37.7, while their stablemates Lincoln Raider and Woodville runner Free To Shine (mdn 3yo 1100m) took 52.1 and 37 even. On the plough, time honours went to Woodville runners Lincoln Star (r65 mile No 2) and Ajay Lincoln (mdn mile), who covered 800m in 50.2, the last 600 in 37.1. Akela Belle (r65 mile No 1) and Rex Royale (r65 mile No 2) were well matched over 800m in 52.3, the last 600 in 37.4, while Trentham entrants Johnny Lincoln (r65 2200m) and Lincoln Dreamer (r65 1400m) ended with 600m in 37.6. Platinum Bordeaux and Almo Street required 52.9 for 800m, the last 600 in 38.6, and a Love Conquers All gelding trained by Lydia Pickford clocked 52.1 and 38.5. A Savabeel-Ametsis three-year-old gelding trained by David Hayes ran 800m in 52.5, the last 600 in 39.2, and Arturo, who has not raced since the autumn, did 53.7 and 39.1. Former northerner Ritzy Sparkle (by Pins), now with Roydon Bergerson, had stablemate and Woodville debutant Colyton Sky (mdn 1200m) for company over 800m in 54 even the last 600 in 39.9. A Nadeem mare trained by Mark Oulaghan ran 1000m in 1.9.4, the last 600 in 40.3, while Peter Didham-trained Woodville debutants Red Rufus (mdn 1200m) and Den Bosch (mdn 3yo 1400m) went 800m in 58 even and 40.4. Prince Turbo and an Alamosa filly sprinted 600m in 41.6, and Ozil clocked 42.6. Woodville runners Flying Surf (mdn 1400m) and debutant Spijker (mdn 3yo 1100m) were kept to 800m in 58.7, the last 600 in 42.8, and Queen Kamada (mdn 1200m) ended with 43.3. On the No 1 grass, Trentham runner Hypatia (r65 2200m) and Casino El Jay did a quiet round before increasing the tempo on the second circuit to run 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 37.1. Antipodes, a big chance at Woodville (mdn 2100m), and Eastern Warrior (by Shamoline Warrior) ran 800m in 53.8, the last 600 in 39.2.
