AWAPUNI TRACKWORK Tuesday November 5 By RON GURNEY Platinum Road could put some worthwhile points on the board at Otaki on Thursday judging by his very sound final gallop at Awapuni this morning. All fast work was on the plough (good), where Platinum Road (mdn 3yo 1200m) partnered stablemate Keep It Savvy over 800m in a smart 48.2, the last 600 in 36.2. Platinum Road (by Declaration Of War) is in just his second innings for trainer Lisa Latta and, in two races back from a winter break, the three-year-old has not had the rub of the green. He will have a significant gear change on Thursday, with the blinkers going on. Keep It Savvy was pulled up at Otaki last start, suffering from an atrial fibrillation, but seems none the worse for wear. His previous form included two thirds. Last-start Otaki winner Desert Magic, who is heading to Riccarton on Saturday (r72 1100m), had stable apprentice Danielle Hirini aboard over 1000m in 1.8.8, the last 600 in 37.2. Otaki acceptor Berry Delightful (mdn mile), in good form, did nice work over 1200m in 1.23.1, the last 600 in 37.9, while Flying Surf, in at Hastings on Sunday (mdn 1400m) and Hypatia went 800m in 51.5 and 37.8. Jessiegee and Sweepstake, who are expected to race on the second day of the NZ Cup carnival at Riccarton next Wednesday, were paired over 1000m in 1.4.4, the last 600 in 38.4. Jessiegee is nominated for the Coupland's Mile. Otaki runners Rex Royale (r65 2200m) and Ajay Lincoln (mdn mile) were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.5.6, the last 600 in 38 even, and Empower (mdn 1200m) went alone in 1.6.1 and 38.6. Amorata (r72 mile) covered 1000m in 1.8.6, the last 600 in 38.4, and Ozil was timed 800m in 53.6 and 38.5. Lincoln Hanover (mdn 1200m) and Free To Shine (mdn 3yo 1200m) were at a strong clip early over 1000m in 1.3.7, the last 600 in 39.3. Red Red Robin warmed to her work over 1000m in 1.11.6, the last 600 in 39.7, and Otaki runner So It Was (r65 2200m) ended with 600m in 39.1. Fully Charged (r65 2200m), who looks in great order, sprinted 600m in 40.2, and the side winkers go on, while Blue And Black covered 800m in a quiet 57.6, the last 600 in 41.3. Young Squire and an Alamosa-Triple Billing three-year-old filly gelding, both trained by Mike Breslin, ran 800m in 58.7 and 41.4.
