AWAPUNI TRACKWORK Thursday, November 14 By RON GURNEY Jenever and Love Potion, race rivals at Waverley this Sunday, impressed in their final gallop at Awapuni this morning. Fast work was held on the course proper (dead), on the No 1 grass (dead) and on the plough (good). Jenever and Love Potion used the course proper and were on level terms throughout 800m in 48.3, the last 600 in 35.5. Both four-year-old mares are owned by respective "Go Racing" syndicates and are likely to clash in the maiden 1400m for fillies and mares on Sunday. Love Potion was balloted out at acceptance time, but has already made it back into the field. Red Rufus and Den Bosch, second and fifth respectively on debut at the Feilding meeting two weeks ago, warmed up from the 800m mark to run home last 600m in 36.4. On the plough, Kellys Inspiration and Piccolo Toro were paired over 800m in 48.8, the last 600 in 36.4, while Prince Turbo and an Alamosa-Triple Billing maiden came up with 49.9 and 36.3. Original Gangster did nice work on his own over 1000m in 1.4.1, the last 600 in 37.6, while top mare Heni and Waverley entrant Khalfani (mdn f&m 1400m) clocked 1.5.9 and 37.5. Beefeater left 800m behind in 52.2, the last 600 in 37.3, and Excelleration ended with 600m in 37.5. Veralto and a Howbaddouwantit maiden, both with Mike Breslin, took 38.6. Veloce, who needs a scratching in the r65 1400m on Sunday, was timed 800m in 51.2, the last 600 in 38 even, and she worked impressively in company on Tuesday. The blinkers go on. Berry Delightful also worked alone, covering 1000m in 1.9.7, the last 600 in 39.3, while an Echoes Of Heaven filly and an Echoes of Heaven gelding, both trained by Jeff Lynds, went 53.7 and 39 even. A Darci Brahma filly and another Echoes Of Heaven filly, two more with Lynds, were timed 800m in 54.1, the last 600 in 39.2, while Anne Herbert's Teddy Bear and Nikki Hurdle's Iffraaj-Cabasso gelding ended with 600m in 39.4. Blue On Black was not after time over 800m in 57.5, the last 600 in 41.8, and Hypatia completed a quiet round before galloping an easy 800m in 58.2 and 42.4. On the No 1 grass, Red Red Robin and a Savabeel-Ametsis maiden, both trained by David Hayes, ran 1000m in 1.5.8, the last 600 in 38.3. On the sand, Waverley entrant Myrtle (r72 1650m) ended her gallop with 600m in 37.5.
