AWAPUNI TRACKWORK Thursday, January 2 By RON GURNEY Queen Kamada and Blue On Black earned admirers for Saturday's Marton meeting on home turf when they worked in good style at Awapuni this morning. All fast work during a quieter gallop session took place on the plough (good), where Queen Kamada and stablemate Blue On Black were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.5.7, coming the final 800m in 50.4, the last 600 in 37.3. Queen Kamada has not been disgraced since winning a maiden (1200m) at Awapuni in earrly November. She was close up in the Group 3 Eulogy Stakes on the first day of the Manawatu Christmas meeting and tackles the 3yo 1400m this Saturday, with the blinkers going on. Blue On Black is fresh up in the r72 1400m and does so with an unplaced Foxton trial outing last month under his belt. He has not raced since finishing sixth in the Group 2 Championship Stakes (2100m) at Ellerslie in mid-April, but looks a picture of health. Prince Turbo, a close second on the middle day at Manawatu, and stablemate Hypatia covered 1000m in 1.4.4, being timed the final 800m in 50.9, the last 600 in 38.1. Last-start winner Just Fabulous and stablemate Rukita were paired over 1000m in 1.4.7, being held together nicely for the final 800m in 51.4, the last 600 in 38.4. They race at Otaki on Monday, with Just Fabulous chasing a Pearl Series bonus in the r72 mile for fillies and mares. Vespa's Diva will debut in the maiden 2yo 800m at Otaki on Monday and worked alone over a steady 800m in 54.4, the last 600 in 39.5. She finished a close in a 2yo trial (850m) at Foxton last month. Lincoln Raider, nominated for the Group 1 Thorndon Mile at Trentham in two weeks, ran 1000m in 1.8 even, the last 600 in 39 even. In the meantime, he will tackle the r82 mile at Marton on Saturday. Form runner Du'blues (r65 mile) had Danielle Hirini aboard over 1000m in 1.11 even, the last 600 in 39.8, while Red Red Robin came up with 1.8 even and 40.5. Proletariat, seeking four successive wins at Marton (r72 2200m), had trainer Ashley Meadows in the saddle over a well-held 1000m in 1.12.4, the last 600 in 41.2. Belle Plaisir (3yo 1400m) was kept to 800m in 55.8, the last 600 in 41.2, and Jakkabella, on debut at Otaki (mdn mile), posted 55.6 and 41.7. She may need the run. Marton entrant Rock With Choux (r65 mile), who is knocking on the door, was not after time over 1000m in 1.16.3, the last 600 in 42.7.
