Please note that there is NO BYO

All patrons, if they are drinking, are encourage to consume alcohol responsibly. Any intoxicated patrons will be refused entry to the course.

Members and patrons need to be aware that the Manawatu Racing Club as part of its obligation under the Sale of Liquor Act has a total ban on BYO alcohol anywhere on the Awapuni racecourse grounds all year round including Boxing Day.

The policy was introduced following discussions with the New Zealand Police and local liquor licensing authorities. Oncourse patrons may still bring picnic hampers with food and non-alcoholic drinks on any raceday but barbeques will not be permitted on the grounds. All patrons and their possessions will be subject to searches before entering the racecourse. Patrons with prohibited items (alcohol) will be asked to dispose of the alcohol or have the items confiscated. While 3m x 3m Gazebos with no walls are permitted, patrons will not be able to use tents on the grounds. These may not be joined together and security will strictly enforce these rules. Patrons should also be aware that on Boxing Day the gates will not be opened till 10am with Security in place on all gates to enforce this rule.

Patrons who refuse to participate in searches may be denied entry. Patrons found with BYO alcohol on the grounds will have the alcohol confiscated and may be evicted from the venue. The Club will also have available 18-25 wrist bands. All patrons 18-25 who are consuming beverages on-course will be required to obtain and display an 18-25 identifying wrist band. Security will be on duty throughout the day to monitor the alcohol policy and crowd control.

The Club will be providing a number of outside bar and café areas around the racecourse on Boxing Day to service the public areas. Alcohol will be available to be purchased from the various outside bar areas.
