Last day of the Wellington carnival where Awapuni has good numbers entered:

ORIGINAL GANGSTER  (Trainer Royden Bergerson) has run two very good arces for sixth to date. The first of those was at Waipukurau when running home well over the 1400m. He then went to Awapuni and stepped up to the 1550m and again ran home well beaten just over the five lengths. The big roomy Wellington track will help his cause in the fifth of the day. With stable apprentice Alex Shin to ride he will claim the 4kg and bring his weight down to 53kg.

LEADING ROLE (Trainer Gary Vile) disappointed in the Manawatu Cup when never really getting onto the race. He was far better however when third in the Marton Cup at his last run when third behind Seraphim. In the Summer Cup the eighth race he is back to a Rating 85 and steps up to the 2400m. He has a very good record on the track and should be very hard to hold out. Darryl Bradley will ride.

RUSTY IN MELBOURNE (Trainer Jeff Lynds) was unlucky when resuming here in December and running sixth behind the highly promising Eagle Bay. That was over 1400m. She then stepped up to 1600m at Tauherenikau and ran a very good race for third behind Missy Moo. She has drawn the ace in the last of the day and should be able to get a very nice run just in behind the speed. Masa Tanaka will ride again.
