Form analysis and tips:

Race 1 Tasman Insulation Maiden Steeplechase (Mdn Stp 3000m) - a small field to start the day. Kings Deep was going very well in front before the fallen runner Highly Likely took his line at the second of the double and dislodged his jockey. He will get his due rewards in the first. Wilbur was far better when fourth last Saturday. Colonia is from the Kevin Myers stable so must be respected with leading rider Sahun Fannin aboard and Chico Rio travels down from up north and his run two starts back against open company was okay. 3 - 1 - 5 - 2

Race 2 Paslode New Zealand Maiden Hurdle (Mdn Hdl 3000m) - Perry Mason was a well beaten third here last weekend but this field is slightly weaker than last Saturday. Game Percy was a good third when making his hurdle debut at Hawera. Its A Wonder makes his hurdle debut but will be wells chooled from the Harvey Wilson stanle. He was a good third on the flat last week. Choclate Fish is another making his jumps debut and trialled during the week.  1 - 2 - 5 - 3

Race 3 Manawatu ITM Manawatu Hurdle (Opn Stpl 4000m) - a very even line up with a few up and comers and the tried and true at the top. Guy Fox was very impressive winning his hurdle debut at Hawera. What made it more impressive was that it was in a restricted open field. He gets in on the minimum and would only have to perform the same as he did at Hawera to take this out. Sea King is a top jumper but has been mixing his form. Despite the top weight he can feature. Upper cut is more renowned over the bigger fences but won over the hurdles at Hawera. The deep track will bring him right into this. Max looked good winning at Ellerslie when given a great ride and can make the next step up. 7 - 1 - 9 - 8

Race 4 Red Stag Timber Handicap (Rating 75 1200m) - Finn looked very promising last year and comes into this fresh up. He loves wet tracks and has leading rider Jonathan Parkes in the saddle. Last Chance has needed her first two runs back but looked better at Whanganui when fifth last time. She gets in on the minimum. Malacanto looked good last year on Heavy tracks and was a good third at Whanganui last time. Danny Boy the local is another reusming and all three of his wins have come at 1200m.  4 - 6 - 5 - 1

Race 5 Nelson Pine Industries Handicap (Opn 2100m) Blathwayt is in very good from atthe moment and despite having to carry 60kg can take this out. He was runner up here two back carrying 59kg and meets Dr Watson the winner that day 3kg better off. Dr Watson did win well here last time and will have plenty of support to repat that effort. Endure is a very good mare and did well to run sixth at Whanganui with a slipped saddle. Hare Bawl gained a deserved win here last weekend and despite the rise in class can feature.  1 - 7 - 4 - 3

Race 6 LJ Hooker Manawatu Steeplechase (Opn Stp 4000m) this looks and out and out clash between two top jumpers in The Big Opal and Wise Men Say. Wise Men Say won the McGregor Grant at his last start at Ellerslie to make it two in a row this season. However we are going to go for the Waikato Steeple winner in The Big Opal as we feel the figure eight will suit him better. He had a flat run last week to keep him up to the mark. Wise Men Say with be very tough to hold out. The Oysterman is a past runner up in a Wellington Steeplechase and was better when runner up here last weekend. Big Brownie is a past winner here and was a good fifth in the McGregor Grant when resuming. 1 - 2 - 7 - 4

Race 7 IPL Plywood Handicap (Opn 1500m) Bel Sorriso has been carrying some very big weights and gets into this race very well with 55.5kg and with Nivesh Teeluck claim will carry just 53.5kg. She loves wet tracks and loves Trentham. Our Bandit has looked good coming through the grades and has won all three races here. This is his biggest test. Duffers Creek won at WFA at Whanganui last time and with Sarah MacNab claim will carry just 57kg while Justlikeyasister suggested she wasnt far from her best form when fourth at Whanganui last time. 2 - 4 - 1 - 3

Race 8 Winstone Walllboards Handicap (Rating 65 1600m) we are predicting an upset in the last with Yamato Nadeshiko. She has changed stable and found the line very well in her two runs for trainer Howie Mathews. Carnaby was brave second here last time and can go one better while Dal Sir Tee was a good second here two back but disappointed lat time. He is better than that. Our Daisy has been in solid form and tried hard when second at Woodville last time. 15 - 3 - 1 - 8
