AWAPUNI TRACKWORK

By RON GURNEY

House Of Cartier has followed up a winning run at the trials with a bold gallop at Awapuni this morning. Fast work was on the outside of the heavy course proper, on the plough (good) or on the heavy No 1 grass. House Of Cartier, who is in her last season of racing, used the course proper and reeled off 1000m in 1.10.4, the last 600 in 38.1. It was good work for the open mile at Marton on Saturday.

Sir Beets and Platinum Bordeaux, two more for Marton, were paired over 800m in 54.6, the last 600 in 39 even, while their stablemates Rock Island Line (open mile) and Wanganui runner Passione recorded 54.8 and 39.1.
Kusuda, who is in great form, left 800m behind in 55.4, the last 600 in 39.2, while St Nancy and Ted Can Too ended with 600m in 39.7. Excelleration clocked 39.8.

Oceanides covered 800m in 57.3, the last 600 in 39.2, and Den Bosch took 57.5 and 39.7.

Last-start winner Berry The Cash and Tweedledee were paired over 1000m in 1.10.5, the last 600 in 40.2, while their stablemates Busybeingfabulous, another last-start winner, and Super Spirit posted 1.11.7 and 40 even.

Open mile entrant Colorado Star and last-start winner Cholula were on terms over 800m, the last 600 in 40.7.

Bradman and Town Cryer were on terms throughout 800m in 58.1, the last 600 in 41, and they finished first and second respectively at the trials three weeks ago.

Dal Kilchoan was timed 1000m in 1.14.5, the last 600 in 42.4, while Silky Red Fox and Prioress came up with 1.16.1 and 42.1.

On the plough, nothing worked better than recent trial winner Belardo Boy, who skipped over 800m in 48.1, the last 600 in 36.1.

Big Franck lost no kudos with his 1000m in 1.4.9, the last 600 in 37.6. Both horses are finely tuned.

Queen Of Spades and Foxton trial winner Sweetjineen matched strides over 800m in 51.8, the last 600 in 38.5, while Champers, a big improver from Hawera, took 53.7 and 38.8, My Father's Gun ended with 38.9.

He's A Doozy was doing his work comfortably over 800m in 52 even, the last 600 in 39 even, and Frankenstein posted 1.9.2 for 1000m, the last 600 in 39.1. Heidi Belle did 800m in 57.3 and 42.4.

Un-raced four-year-old Sea Monarch (by Sweynesse) and Dedoje sprinted 600m in 42.5, while Casino El Jay required 43.5. Their stablemate Flying Surf recorded 43.7.

On the No 1 grass, Master Fin was sent 1000m in 1.11 even, the last 600 in 41.9, while Atenartin and Showshanelle went 800m together in 55.2, the last 600 in 41.6. West Coast schooled over the hurdles before running 1200m, the last 600 in 42.1.
