House Of Cartier, Wakari and Kapinos tuned up nicely for the last day of the Hawke’s Bay spring carnival when they galloped at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was held on the outside of the heavy course proper, on the heavy No 1 grass or on the plough.

House Of Cartier used the course proper and reeled off 1000m in 1.8.6, the last 600 in 37.5, as she prepares for the $250,000 Livamol Classic on Saturday.

She has really excelled since winning the Group 3 mile at the Marton meeting last month, following up with a trial win at Otaki last week.

Her stablemate Excelleration covered 800m in 53 seconds even, the last 600 in 38.3, and should go a good race fresh.

Last-start winner Reign It In was timed 1000m in 1.12.8, the last 600 in 39.5, while Belclare and Gaelic Spirit went together in 1.14.4 and 39.5. Belclare was an impressive winner on the second day at Hastings. Champers and St Nancy went 800m in 54 even and 39.9.

He’s A Doozy and Passione were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.15.6, the last 600 in 40.4, while Colorado Star, a big winner fresh up, and Parisian Poppy came up with 1.13 even and 41.3.

Shadow’s Cast was ahead of stablemate Carlingford Bay at the finish of 1200m, being timed from the 1000m in 1.10.8, the last 600 in 41.7.

Wairarapa entrant Den Bosch had Robbie Hannam aboard over 800m in 55.7, the last 600 in 41.1. He was unlucky not to have paid a dividend fresh up at the Marton meeting.

On the plough, Waikari and Kapinos were paired over an eye-catching 1000m in 1.2.2, the last 600 in 35.9, which was excellent work.

Cholula, who heads to Tauherenikau on Thursday, ended 800m with 600 in 37.2, while Sequoia Dawn and Nun So Bad, two more from the Breslin stable, completed their work with 38.5.

Bradman and Town Cryer matched strides over 1000m in a nice 1.3.7, the last 600 in 38, and they have thrived in recent weeks.

Casino El Jay and un-raced four-year-old Sea Monarch (by Sweynesse) ran 800m in 55.5, the last 600 in 39.9, and Splodge went alone in 54.5 and 40.7.

Canucia and Tiro left 1000m behind in 1.8.6, the last 600 in 40.1, while Prioress and un-raced Lincoln Rocks (by Road To Rock) did 800m in 55.2 and 41.5.

Putorino worked alone over 800m in 57.2, the last 600 in 41.8, and Inmyshadow took 55.8 and 41.5. Un-raced Alamosa filly Pradasphere, who won a Foxton trial recently, clocked 55.1 and 42.7.

British Royalty (by Vespa) ran 800m in 58.1, the last 600 in 42.8, and Sindacato recorded 58.1 and 43.6. Sylviemosa and Princess Ani sprinted 600m in 43.8.

On the No 1 grass, Glide Queen covered 800m in 53 even, the last 600 in 40.4, and Semper Magico posted 1.11.2 for 1000m, the last 600 in 40.8.

Saltbush Bill was timed 1000m in 1.8.6, the last 600 in 42.4, while his stablemates Tweedledee and Busybeingfabulous went together in 1.10.8 and 42.3.

Showshanelle was kept to 800m in 57 even and 42.8, while Super Spirit did 1000m in 1.14.1 and 43.5. Miss Rosie (by Pins) and Pinkerton (by Niagara), both trained by Mark Oulaghan, clocked 58.7 for 800m, the last 600 in 44.1.
