Raffle and Colorado Star galloped boldly together at Awapuni this morning, and are primed for top performances at Wanganui on Saturday.

Fast work was held on the course proper (good) or on the plough (good).

Raffle (r74 1200m) and Colorado Star (open 1360m) used the course proper and were paired over 800m in 53.4, the last 600 in 36.3.

Raffle won an Otaki trial (1000m) last month followed by two race-day thirds, and looks ready to chalk up win number three. Bridget Grylls rides her for the first time.

Colorado Star resumes with stable apprentice Faye Lazet aboard (a3) after finishing third at the Foxton trials (1000m) two weeks ago. He normally goes well fresh.

Rock Island Line and Mormaire, who are not racing this weekend, covered 800m in 53 seconds even, the last 600 in 36.6, while Miss Rosie and Super Flash went 1000m together in 1.4.9, coming the final 800m in 51.3, the last 600 in 36.1.

A Zed-Mayday Jones four-year-old mare trained by Mark Oulaghan ran 1200m in 1.19.2, clocking 52.6 for the final 800m, the last 600 in 37.2.

Wanganui runners Silky Red Fox (mdn 3yo 1360m) and Phinston (r65

1360m) matched strides over 1000m in 1.10.7, the last 600 in 37.7.

Phinston was impressive winning a maiden 1200m at Woodville last start.

Zaci (2yo 1200m) was timed 800m in 52.7, the last 600 in 37.1 and, after two trial seconds earlier this year, has not had much luck in two race-day appearances so far.

Bradman (r65 1360m) and last-start winner Putorino (r74 mile) were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.8.7, the last 600 in 38 even.

Their stablemate Kapinos (open 1360m) went 1000m on his own in 1.9.6 and 38.2, and he will carry just 51kg after a claim from northern apprentice Niranjan Parmar.

Lincoln Falls (r74 1200m), who worked well on Tuesday, warmed up from the 1000m (1.12.5) to run home his last 600 in 38.3. He looks a big improver.

Un-raced two-year-old Pepeha (by Darci Brahma) and a Redwood-Savadashian three-year-old, geldings trained by Mike Breslin, ran 800m in 56.6, the last 600 in 38.4.

Saltbush Bill went on his own over 1000m in 1.8.9, the last 600 in 39.1, and his stablemates Tweedledee and West Coast recorded 1.9.7

(39.8) and 1.9.9 (39.2) respectively. Splodge took 1.11.2 and 39.6.

Wanganui entrant Durham Lad (r74 1200m), who won a Foxton trial

(1000m) two weeks ago, went an easy 800m in 56.9, the last 600 in 39.8. He goes well fresh, but prefers some give in the ground.

Flying Surf (f74 mile) covered 800m, but was only timed the last 600, which took 38.8. She won on a heavy-8 two starts ago, and has held her form well on good ground since.

Maiden mare Precious Niamh (by Niagara), who has not raced for nine months, ended her work with 600m in 39.8, and Super Spirit completed 1000m in 1.11.7, the last 600 in 40.1.

On the plough, Flying Surf (f74 mile) covered 800m, but was only timed the last 600, which took 38.8. She won on a heavy-8 two starts ago, and has held her form well on good ground since.

Her stablemates Nun So Bad and un-raced Zambezi Lass (by Tavistock) were timed 800m in 55.5, the last 600 in 39.9.
