AWAPUNI TRACKWORK

Last-start Trentham winner Far Site heads to Tauranga at the top of her game after a bold semi-final gallop at Awapuni this morning.

The majority of fast work was held on the plough (good), with just one horse timed on the No 1 grass (heavy).

Far Site used the plough and, working the reverse way (right-handed), sped over 800m in 48.9, the last 600 in 36.4, giving trainer Peter Didham plenty of confidence for the trip north. She will start in either the Tauranga Classic or the r74 1400m.

Lightly-raced maiden mare Irish Prayer did solid work as well, covering 800m in 49.7, the last 600 in 36.7.

She resumed at Wanganui on Queen's Birthday weekend, finishing a creditable sixth after settling well off the pace, and looks an improver for Otaki (mdn 1400m) on Friday.

Her stablemate Obrigado (r74 mile), who resumed the same day, was impressive over 1000m in 1.3.1, the last 600 in 37.5, and he has thrived over the last few weeks.

Prince Turbo (r65 mile) and his unraced younger sister Sylviemosa (by Alamosa) were paired over 1000m in 1.5.8, the last 600 in 37.4. Prince Turbo has not raced since mid-January.

Khalfani and Valhalla Rising matched strides over 800m in 51.9, the last 600 in 37.6, and they will race in maiden company on Friday.

Their unraced stablemate Bee Sting (by Vespa), hoping to get a run on Friday, sprinted 600m in 37.8, and Jessie's Rock (r65 mile) left 1000m behind in 1.9.9 and 39.6.

Floral Art, a last-start Trentham winner, worked right-handed over 800m in 51.8, the last 600 in 39 even. She travels to Tauranga this week as well, and will contest the open mile.

Sybarite was timed 1000m in 1.11.5, the last 600 in 40.2, while Belclare (by Per Incanto) and unraced two-year-old Platinum Parade (by Belardo), both trained by Lisa Latta, ran 800m in 55 even and 40.1. They are entered for Otaki.

Casino El Jay, off the scene on race-day for 18 months, and unraced three-year-old filly Zambesi Lass (by Tavistock) warmed up from the 800m to run home 600 in 40.4. They are with Mike Breslin.

Master Fin and a Pins filly stablemate covered 800m in 57.8, the last 600 in 42.9, while Otaki maiden entrants Platinum Bordeaux and Steely Zeb were kept to 59.5 and 43.3.

Unraced Vespa two-year-old Cavani and a Turn Me Loose-Letsgetiton three-year-old, both trained by Peter Didham, ran 800m in 59.6, the last 600 in 43.4.

On the No 1 grass, Otaki runner Jugador (mdn 1200m) had trainer Deborah Parry aboard over 800m in 55.2, the last 600 in 41.1.
