By RON GURNEY

Bradman and Kapinos earned admirers for Hawera on Saturday after a bold semi- final trial at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was held on the heavy No 1 grass or on the plough (good).

Bradman and Kapinos used the No 1 grass and reeled off 1000m in 1.5.9, the last 600 in 38.4.

Nod Of The Head and Platinum Road were paired over 800m in 51.8, the last 600 in 38.5, and their stablemate Belardo Boy, a last- start maiden winner at Wanganui, went alone in 52.3 and 39 even.

Platinum Spirit and Demetrias were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.8.9, the last 600 in 39.6, and both horses have been working solidly.

Lincoln Hills had Robert Hannam aboard over 800m in 52.5, the last 600 in 39.1, while former northerner Make Time, also with Lisa Latta, took 52.8 and 39.7.

Lincoln Raider covered 800m in 53.4, the last 600 in 40.1, while Balalaika and a Contributer filly, both with Matthew Eales, went together in 53.6 and 40.3.

Atenartin and Showshanelle matched strides over 800m in 53.9, the last 600 in 40.4, while their stablemate Durham Lad went alone in 54 even and 40.4.

Peter Didham-trained juvenile winner Ansu ran 800m in 54.3, the last 600 in 40.6, and Venato posted 55 even and 40.5.

Queen Of Spades and Tiro were timed 1000m in 1.10.6, the last 600 in 41.4, and Semper Magico was kept to 1.9.6 and 42.4.

On the plough, Hillcrest Road was impressive cutting out 800m in 49.1, the last 600 in 36 seconds even. He is galloping so well.

Last-start winner My Father’s Gun had trainer Lucy Tanner aboard over 1000m in 1.7.8, the last 600 in 37.4. He could easily put back-to-back wins together.

Angelina Jay caught the eye as well with her 1000m in 1.8 even, the last 600 in 37.7, while Prince Turbo and Son Of Thunder did 800m in 51.1 and 37.5.

Casino El Jay and un-raced Sea Monarch left 800m behind in 51.2, the last 600 in 37.5, while Lincoln’s Kruz and Hong Kong (by Makfi) took 52.4 and 37.7.

Putorino and Sindacato were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.7.1, the last 600 in 38.6, and are both poised for rewarding campaigns.

Big Franck was given a quiet round and a half before galloping 800m in 53.5, the last 600 in 38.4, while Miss Rosie (by Pins) and a Niagara gelding, un-raced horses with Mark Oulaghan, went 1000m in 1.9.4 and 39.5.
