Bergerson quartet set for winning turn
By RON GURNEY | July 05, 2022

Timberlake, Sweetjineen, Queen Of Spades and Stormcast, all trained by Roydon Bergerson, were impressive trialists at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was held on the outside of the course proper, which provided excellent footing for this time of the year. Consequently, some good times were recorded.

Timberlake was paired with Stormcast over 1200 metres in 1.20.5, coming the final 800m in 50.5, the last 600 in 37.1.

Sweetjineen and Queen Of Spades followed soon after with 1000m in 1.5.3, clocking 49.9 for the final 800m, the last 600 in 37.3. All, except Stormcast, are racing at Hastings or Hawera on the weekend.

Canucia and former northern mare Corinne, two more from the Bergerson stable, ran 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 37.4.

Dedoje and last-start Rotorua winner Princess Ani were sent 1000m in 1.7.6, the last 600 in 38.9, and Venato galloped alone over 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 39 seconds even.

Sea Monarch and Son Of Thunder covered 1000m in 1.7.1, coming the final 800m in 52.2, the last 600 in 39.1.

Berry The Cash worked alone over 1000m in 1.15.2, the last 600 in 39.2, and stablemate Super Flash posted 1.16 and 39.7.

Much improved mare Amosia, who has won her last two, ran 800m in 54.6, the last 600 in 39.2, while Freedom Reins and a Turn Me Loose maiden did 1000m in 1.16.5 and 39.8.

Nun So Bad and Blackcomb, both unlucky not to pay a dividend last start, were paired over 1000m in 1.8.1, coming the final 800m in 53.3, the last 600 in 40.1.

The True Believer and My Bibby were on terms throughout 1200m in 1.19.5, clocking 56.8 for the final 800m, the last 600 in 41.8.

Tweedledee was not after time over 1200m, the last 600 in 42.4, and neither were Nobellem, trained by Nikki Hurdle, and Pleasure (Peter Didham), who went a quiet 800m together, the last 600 in 42.2.
