Bulls visitor Bold Belle put her hand up to be counted for the feature sprint race at Otaki on Boxing Day when galloping at Awapuni this morning.
Fast work during a light session was held on the synthetic track or the plough (good).
Bold Belle used the synthetic track and was too quick for stablemate Fablue over 1000m in 1.2, the last 600 in 35.1.
The mare has won three from 11 and added five minor placings back to fourth. She won fresh up at Trentham in October, followed by a second and a sixth at the same venue.
The sixth was in last placing, but she was under two lengths from the winner.
Spud Murphy, also trained by Bryce Newman, worked on his own over 800m in 49.5, the last 600 in 36.7.
The Tivaci gelding won two trials in October, but disappointed on debut last month. He looks a big improver for the maiden mile at Otaki on Boxing Day.
Rheneas (r65 1200m), another heading to Otaki next week, and Perfect Turn were paired over 1000m in 1.8.1, the last 600 in 38.6. Rheneas was unplaced when resuming at Wanganui, but expect a form reversal.
Their stablemates La Bella Grande and Vee Vee, race rivals at Trentham on Saturday (mdn 1400m), covered 1000m in 1.9, the last 600 in 38.6. Lisa Allpress rides La Bella Grande, while Michael McNab is aboard Vee Vee.
Lincoln Falls, in the last race at Trentham (r65 1400m), was let off with 1000m in 1.10.7, the last 600 in 40.3, and his last-start fourth there two weeks ago was very encouraging.
On the plough, maiden mare Waitui Rose and stablemate Meglio Di Falcrest reeled off 1000m in 1.3, the last 600 in 35.9.
Waitui Rose goes to Trentham on Saturday (mdn 1400m), while Meglio Di Falcrest is in the r75 1400m at Otaki on Boxing Day. Her last-start failure is best forgotten, and she was placed over 1400 metres earlier in her career.
Manawatu Challenge Stakes prospect Town Cryer had Sweetjineen for a partner over 1000m in 1.7.2, the last 600 in 38.1.
Manifique, a royal chance in the Manawatu Cup, was not chasing the clock over 1000m in 1.16.9, the last 600 in 39.6.
Unraced three-year-old filly Phoenicianprincess (by Shooting To Win) ended her work with 600m in 39.1, and she is trained by the Fannin-Schofer partnership.
Last-start maiden winner Sevenayes and stablemate Crouch were on terms throughout a quiet 800m in 55.9, the last 600 in 41.3.
Sevenayes heads to Trentham on Saturday (r65 1400m), while Crouch races at Otaki on Boxing Day (r75 2100m). Crouch won successive races over 2100 metres mid-winter.
Platinum Designs, knocking on the door for his first win, sprinted 600m in 41.9. He tackles the 3yo 1200m on Saturday, with Masa Hashizume the rider.
