AWAPUNI TRACKWORK

By RON GURNEY

Bradman and Kapinos were in fine touch on Tuesday, and did nice work again at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was on the No 1 grass or on the plough (good). One gallop was recorded on the course proper.

Bradman and Kapinos used the No 1 grass and, though not as quick as Tuesday, it still showed they are ready for Hawera on Saturday.

They covered 1000m in 1.7.8, the last 600 in 39.9.

Saltbush Bill, making good progress in a new campaign, ran 800m in 51.8, the last 600 in 39.7.

Last-start winner Durham Lad also worked alone, cruising over 800m in 52.9, the last 600 in 39.8. He is in the r74 1200m at Hawera.

Balalaika, who resumes in the r65 1200m, ran 800m in 55 even, the last 600 in 41.9. She finished third at the Foxton trials two weeks ago and goes well fresh.

Her stablemate Venato (r74 mile), who is holding his form well, ran 800m in 55.6 and 41.3. No reason to suggest he can’t pay a dividend again.

Belardo Boy (r65 1200m), who bolted in at Wanganui last start, was kept to 800m in 56.8, the last 600 in 42.2.

On the plough, Sequoia Dawn and stablemate Nun So Bad were impressive cutting out 1000m in 1.3.5, coming the final 800m in 48.6, the last 600 in 35.7. They will likely run at Tauherenikau next week.

Nod Of The Head, who is at the top of his game, skipped over 1000m in 1.4.1, the last 600 in 37.7. He can put back-to-back wins together at Hawera (r74 mile).

Canucia and Tiro were paired over 1000m in 1.5.1, the last 600 in 37.5, while Cholula and un-raced three-year-old Soowin (by Sooboog) did 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 37.6.

Dedoje and Flying Surf were on terms throughout 800m in 53.2, the last 600 in 37.7.

Luna Perfecta, in at Hawera (r65 1400m), ended 800m with a 600 dash in 38.9, and Make Time (r74 1200m) went 53.8 and 39.1.

He’s A Doozy and Prioress matched strides over 1000m in 1.9.8, the last 600 in 39.2, while last-start winner My Father’s Gun recorded 1.10.7 and 40.3. He could win again at Hawera (r65 1400m).

Race rival Ted Can Too. who ran a huge third when resuming, clocked 55.8 for 800m, the last 600 in 40.4.

Kelly Coe and Dennismac covered 1000m in 1.9.5, the last 600 in 42 even.

On the course proper, Bobby Dee, now with Peter Didham, and stablemate Ansu ran 800m in 52 even, the last 600 in 36.4.
