Last-start maiden winner Sea Monarch and his stablemate Parisian Poppy galloped impressively at Awapuni this morning.

The majority of fast work was held on the plough (good), with just one trial on the course proper the reverse way (right-handed).

Sea Monarch and Parisian Poppy used the plough and were at a solid clip throughout 1000m in 1.3.2, the last 600 in 36.6.

Sea Monarch was brave in his first-day success, with the promise of a lot more to come, while Parisian Poppy is building nicely for an overdue win.

Father Lenihan, who has not won a race for over two years, and Prioress were paired over 1000m in 1.3.1, the last 600 in 36.9. Luck has been against Prioress in recent starts.

Dedoje, second on the first day at Manawatu, and Casino El Jay covered 1000m in 1.3 even, the last 600 in 37.5. They were very quick over the first 400m, but did ease over the final section.

Bradman and Reign It In were locked together over 1000m in 1.5.3, the last 600 in 37.6, while their stablemates Kapinos and Sweetjineen clocked 1.6 even and 37.7.

Cher Ami worked alone over 1000m in 1.5.9, the last 600 in 38 even, and she has been freshened since racing at Woodville in October.

Krone (by Vadamos), who lost her rider on debut, and unraced stablemate Straight Scooter (by Vespa) did nice work over 1000m in 1.6.3, the last 600 in 38.5.

Belclare and Nod Of The Head matched strides over 1000m in 1.8.3, the last 600 in 38.2, and My Father's Gun, freshened since racing In October, ran 800m in 52.2, the last 600 in 38 even.

Shadows Cast cruised over 800m in  52.2, the last 600 in 38.9, while Night Roca (by El Roca), unplaced on debut, and Platinum Assault took 53.5 and 39.1.

Carlingford Bay left 800m behind in 54.6, the last 600 in 39.6, and Almeraki, who made up good ground after being checked at the start on the first day at Manawatu, posted 54 even and 40.3.

Jugador covered 1000m in 1.8.6, the last 600 in 40.1, while Platinum Road and a Proisir colt did a round at even work before galloping from the 1000m on the second circuit in 1.10 even, the last 600 in 40.3.

Super Spirit went alone over a quiet round before speeding up on the second circuit to complete 1000m in 1.11.8, the last 600 in 42.6, while Nest Egg and unraced four-year-old gelding Hikon (by Ghibellines) did 1000m in 1.11.6 and 43 even.

Working just off the rail on the course proper (reverse way), Sindacato and Putorino were on terms over 1200m in 1.16.9, the last 600 in 35.7. Sindacato is heading to Auckland.
