AWAPUNI TRACKWORK

Mike Breslin-trained Dedoje and Princess Ani earned admirers for Hawke’s Bay on Saturday when they galloped together at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was on the plough (good) or the heavy No 1 grass.

Dedoje and Princess Ani used the plough and cut out a smart 1000m in 1.3.1, the last 600 in 36.9.

Deborah Parry-trained stablemates Sybarite and Chillax ‘n’ Chase, also entered for Hawke’s Bay, were paired over 1000m in 1.7.1, the last 600 in 37.6.

Platinum Star (r74 1400m) worked alone over 800m in 51.7, the last 600 in 38.2, and Master Fin (open 2100m) was sent 1000m in 1.6.1 and 39.4.

Casino El Jay and Zambezi Lass were kept to 800m in 58.3, the last 600 in 42.5.

On the No 1 grass, Atenartin and Showshanelle, both trained by Matthew Eales, covered 1000m in 1.9.9, the last 600 in 39.6. Showshanelle goes to Hawke’s Bay.

West Coast left 1000m behind in 1.10.7, the last 600 in 40.8, while Hawke’s Bay entrants Keep It Savvy and an in-form Akela Belle ran 800m in 55 even and 40.1.

Last-start winner Gaelic Spirit was not chasing the clock over 800m in 58.7, the last 600 in 42.1. More wins are in store on the heavy tracks.

La Jungles, in on Saturday, had his trainer Stephen Beatson aboard over 1600m, being timed the final 1000m in 1.16.1, the last 600 in 45.1.

Durham Lad (r74 1400m) was given an easy  800m, the last 600 in 45 even.
