Lincoln Star Not Finished With Just Yet
By RON GURNEY | November 30, 2023

Lincoln Star was in stunning form at Awapuni this morning and deserves the utmost respect at Wanganui on Saturday.

All fast work timed was on the plough (good), where Lincoln Star (r75 mile) sped over 1000m in 1.2.4, the last 600 in 35 seconds even.

The Savabeel eight-year-old has been a top performer in the lower grades, with six wins and 27 placings back to fifth, and has improved a ton since his resuming run at Hastings last month.

His stablemate Lincoln's Kruz, who had mixed results at the New Zealand Cup meeting, covered 1000m in 1.7.8, the last 600 in 35.8.

Show D'or and a Shamexpress maiden left 1000m behind in 1.8.9, the last 600 in 36.2, and unraced four-year-old Jack Morrison (by Darci Brahma) went 800m in 50.6, the last 600 in 36.8. He is with Mark Oulaghan.

So is Rocking Light (by Rock 'n' Pop), who ran 1000m in 1.5.5, the last 600 in 37 seconds even. He was unplaced on debut last January and has not raced since.

Pradasphere, balloted out of a r65 mile on Saturday, skipped over 1000m in 1.5.4, the last 600 in 37.5, and she has been working strongly.

Sweetjineen (r75 mile) and Great Escape (Fillies' Stakes) were paired over 1000m in 1.6 even, the last 600 in 37.9. Sweetjineen is quite capable of a form reversal.

Colorado Star (Wanganui Cup) and Sevenayes (mdn 1340m) were on terms throughout 1000m, completing the final 800m in 49.6, the last 600 in 37.2.

Last-start maiden winner Ardroe worked on his own over 800m, the last 600 in 37.6, and he looks in great condition. A repeat success on Saturday (r65 1200m) would not surprise.

Bucks Night (by Vanbrugh) and Poppy's Girl (by Harry Angel), unraced three-year-olds in the Fannin/Schofer barn, were timed 1000m in 1.7.7, the last 600 in 38.2.

Dawn Shadow (by Proisir), unplaced on debut last autumn, ended 800m with 54.4, the last 600 in 40.7, and Brusset, balloted out of the maiden 1340m on Saturday, was kept to 600m in 41.9.
