Maiden filly Miss Rosie coming to hand well
By RON GURNEY | May 03, 2022

Miss Rosie and Super Flash continued their solid progress in new campaigns when they worked together in fine fashion at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was held on the course proper (good) or on the plough (good).

Miss Rosie and stablemate Super Flash, both trained by Mark Oulaghan, used the course proper and reeled off 1000m in 1.6.5, the last 600 in 36.9.

Miss Rosie (by Pins) was unplaced in her sole race last spring before being put aside. She had a run at the Foxton trials three weeks ago and has worked solidly ever since.

Super Flash, who has won four from 14, is building nicely as well.

Heidi Belle gathered speed from the 1000m, which she covered in 1.13.3, the last 600 in 36.8, while her stablemate Kusuda came up with

1.12.5 and 37.4.

Manifique, an eight-length maiden winner at Woodville last start, and Frankenstein, two more from the Didham barn, ran 1000m in 1.13.7, the last 600 in 37.2.

Phinston, another impressive maiden winner at Woodville, and Hemi Ridapest matched strides over 1000m in 1.11.6, the last 600 in 37 seconds even.

Mormaire and Lincoln Lover were sent 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 37.8, and Lincoln Lover (by Dalghar) faded after showing plenty of early speed on debut at Otaki last month.

Far Site covered 1000m in 1.10.1, the last 600 in 38.1, and she looks a big improver from a resuming run at Hawera last week.

West Coast, who won a Foxton trial (1400m) three weeks ago, had in-form jockey Chris Dell aboard over 1000m in 1.11.1, the last 600 in 38.8.

The Mettre En Jeu maiden gelding was placed on the flat and over jumps more than once last year.

See The Lion and Tumbleweed, both trained by Lydia Pickford, were timed 1000m in 1.10.5, the last 600 in 39.4, while Lurid and Raccourci took 1.11.4 and 39.1.

Busybeingfabulous, second at the Foxton trials (1200m), went 1000m on his own in 1.11.3 and 39.5, followed by stablemate Tweedledee in

1.12.8 and 40.2.

On the plough, Dorothy's Daughter (by Roc de Cambes) did a round and a half before sprinting home the last 600 in 38.7, while Valhalla Rising and former northerner Blackcomb (by Telperion), in similar work, recorded 39.5.

Sea Monarch and un-raced two-year-old filly Sanperion (by Telperion) followed suit with the last 600m taking 42 seconds even.

Son Of Thunder, fourth when resuming on Anzac weekend, and Soowin (by Sooboog), second on debut the same day, ended with 600m in 43.2.
