Veteran gallopers My Father's Gun and Dal Kilchoan earned plenty of admirers for Woodville on Sunday when they galloped in separate workouts at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

All fast work was held on the plough (good).

My Father's Gun, who turned nine last month, gathered speed from the 1000m to complete 800m in 48.1, the last 600 in 35.3.

He is back racing after 11 months on the sideline and had an unplaced resuming run over 1200 metres at Wanganui last Saturday. He steps up to 1400 metres on Sunday, with Lily Sutherland (a1) in the saddle.

His stablemate Goddess covered 1000m in 1.5.2, the last 600 in 36.5, while Woodville acceptor Omega Boy (r65 1400m) and stablemate Wal (by Staphanos) ran 800m in 51.2, the last 600 in 36.9.

Omega Boy resumed on a winning note on the synthetic track last Sunday week and will run at Woodville with in-form stable apprentice Toni Davies (a3) in the saddle.

Lincoln Towers, in solid form on the synthetic track, was timed 1000m in 1.5.6, the last 600 in 37.1, and steeplechaser Dal Kilchoan, who turned 12 last month, was at a good clip early over 1000m in 1.3.4 and 38.1.

Dal Kilchoan won an open steeplechase at Woodville three weeks ago with Shaun Fannin aboard (66.5kg), but Stephen Karnicnik has the mount on Sunday, with three kilos more (69.5kg).

Hawke's Bay acceptor Lantern Way (r75 mile) had race-day jockey Jonathan Riddell aboard over 1000m in 1.7.7, the last 600 in 39.1, and could easily pay a dividend on Saturday.

Call A Friend and unraced stablemate Saxon Lady (by Saxon Warrior) were paired over 800m in 54.1, the last 600 in 39.2.

Woodville acceptors Sevenayes (r65 1400m) and Thirsty (mdn mile) were not chasing the clock over 800m in 57.4, the last 600 in 40.9, and neither was their stablemate Craftsman (mdn 1200m) in 58.2 and 42.4.
