Last-start highweight winner Pinkerton was in brilliant form at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

Fast work was held on the plough or on the synthetic track.

Pinkerton used the plough and, despite having a lightweight rider aboard, was able to cut out 1000m in a very smart 1000m in 58.7, the last 600 in 34.9.

The six-year-old won fresh up at Woodville four weeks ago and has trained on strongly. More wins look in store this campaign.

Jestin Case and Knickerless, race rivals at Wanganui on Thursday (r65 mile No 2), were paired over a solid gallop of their own, clocking 1.1.7 for 1000m, the last 600 in 35.9.

Surprize Me, a big improver next start and Textbook (r65 mile No 2) were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.4 even, the last 600 in 35.7.

Kentucky Boy and Super Spirit wasted no time over 1000m in 1.1.8, the last 600 in 36.7, while their stablemates West Coast and Super Flash went 1.2.7 and 36.9.

Three of those four race over jumps on Thursday, while West Coast tackles the distance maiden (2060m).

Fashion Icon, who has won three from nine, had Moon Money for a partner over 1000m in 1.7.6, the last 600 in 37.1. They are heading to Rotorua on Saturday for the 3yo 1400m and r65 1400m respectively.

Donnybrook, another who should go close to winning on Thursday (r65 mile No 2), worked alone over 1000m in 1.6.4, the last 600 in 38.1, and race rival Platinum Sixty Six recorded 1.6.7 and 38.4.

Last-start maiden winner Perfect Test had senior jockey Chris Dell aboard over 1000m in 1.7.4, the last 600 in 38.6, and Wanganui acceptor Lady Performer (r65 mile No 1) clocked 1.7.7 and 39.2.

Glorafilia (r65 mile No 2) and Danjuro, who heads to Taranaki on Saturday (r65 1800m) were kept to 1.11.6 for 1000m, the last 600 in 39.3.

On the synthetic track, La Bella Grande gathered speed from the 1000m (1.8) to finish with 600 in 39.2. La Bella Grande is in the first of the r65 miles on Thursday.

Last-start winner Ima Brazen One and unraced two-year-old filly Pleasing (by Russian Revolution) were timed 800m in 53.7, the last 600 in 40.2.

Pleasing (by Russian Revolution) was nominated for Taranaki (2yo 1200m) earlier this week after good form at the jump-outs and the trials last month.

Sotirio, who has not raced since the spring, sprinted 600m in 41.1, while Crouch and Hips Don't Lie went together in a quiet 45.1.
