Platinum Petals proved her last-start failure is best forgotten when she galloped in great style at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was held on the plough (good) or on the No 1 grass (dead).

Platinum Petals used the plough and had Sacred Pearl for a partner over 1000m in 1.6.7, coming the final 800m in 50.5, the last 600 in 37.6. It was an excellent trial.

Platinum Petals finished second at New Plymouth two starts back, but a wide draw left her without cover throughout when she returned to the same venue a month ago.

She looks ready to make amends at Tauherenikau on Sunday (r65 1400m).

Their stablemate Lincoln's Kruz (r74 1000m), who won a maiden race over 1000 metres at the same meeting last year, worked alone, and left 800m behind in 50.3, the last 600 in 37 seconds even.

Do not read too much into his form over the last two starts, and Lisa Allpress, who won a race on him at Trentham during the autumn, is back on board.

Four-year-old entire Lincoln Valley (mdn 1000m) and Flickering Shadow were paired over 800m in 52 seconds even, the last 600 in 37.6.

Lincoln Valley (by Pins) won a Woodville trial in November, but was unplaced on debut at Wanganui three weeks later. Lisa Allpress was on board at Woodville, and picks up the mount for Sunday.

Lurid and Mormaire, both in the r65 mile, were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.10.8, the last 600 in 39.6, while Lincoln Rocks (by Road To Rock), unplaced on debut in October, and unraced three-year-old St John (by Alamosa) came up with 1.10.8 and 39.3.

Sir Beets (r74 2050m) and Apache Anne (mdn 1400m) covered 800m in 54.6, the last 600 in 40.4. Apache Anne (by Tavistock) is a daughter of Group-winning mare La Sizeranne, and debuts on Sunday after a second at the Foxton trials (1200m) three weeks ago. Her long-time goal is the New Zealand Oaks in March.

Wild Moose had Robert Hannam in the saddle over 800m in 54.6, the last 600 in 41.6, while Knickerless and Diss Is Dramatic, both in the two-year-old dash (1000m) on Sunday, went together in 56.4 and 41 even.

Knickerless was a good third on the middle day at Manawatu in her first ever race-day start, and Diss Is Dramatic (by Dissident) debuts after two second placings at the Foxton trials.

On the No 1 grass, un-raced four-year-old gelding Hikon (by Ghibellines) and a Dalghar-Porotene Chance three-year-old gelding were paired over 800m in 49 even, the last 600 in 36.4. The Dalghar gelding won a Foxton trial (1000m) three weeks ago.

Their stablemate Bradman was sent 800m in 53.6, the last 600 in 40.5, and Pinkerton breezed over 1000m in 1.12.6, the last 600 in 41.1.
