Queen Of Spades indicated that her fresh up run last start is best forgotten when she galloped boldly at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was held on the synthetic track or on the plough.

Queen Of Spades used the synthetic track and covered 1000m in 1.7.3, the last 600 in 37.2, and could have gone quicker.

The Iffraaj mare should appreciate the step up to 1400 metres at Otaki on Saturday, when she will be ridden by four-kilo claiming apprentice Rihaan Goyaram.

Stablemate and race rival Sweetjineen had race-day rider Kavish Chowdoory aboard over 1000m in 1.8.8, the last 600 in 39.4. She will make the most of Saturday's 1400 metres as well.

A Darci Brahma two-year-old and an Ocean Park two-year-old, both trained by Roydon Bergerson, ran 800m in 53.5, the last 600 in 37.1.

Sunday's Waverley maiden entrants Reprobate (1400m) and Korolova (1200m) were paired over 800m in a quiet 58.8, the last 600 in 43.1. Reprobate will have visor blinkers replaced with full blinkers.

On the plough, Make Time, another entered for the r75 1400m at Otaki, did two quiet rounds with a 600m sprint at the end of each one in 35.4 and 37.3 respectively.

Awapuni apprentice Jim Chung (a3) will ride him for the first time, with the side winkers being replaced with full blinkers.

Deadly Pony (mdn mile) did similar work, with his 600m times being 44.4 and 37.9 respectively. He ran a huge race at Otaki last start and was beaten narrowly.

Thirsty and unraced three-year-old Dapper Dan (by Vespa) were on terms throughout 800m in 54.4, the last 600 in 39.7.

Perfect Test did two quiet rounds with a 600m sprint at the end of each one in 39.4 and 39.7 respectively, and last-start maiden winner Coney Island, in similar work, took 43.1 and 41.1.

Call A Friend and Fou The Noo (by Alamosa) were kept to 1000m in 1.13.1, the last 600 in 40.3, while Colorado Star and Saxon Lady (by Russian Revolution) went a very quiet 600m in 46.7.

Fou The Noo and Saxon Lady are unraced three-year-old fillies trained by Mike Breslin.
