Belardo Boy is the big improver for the weight-for-age mile at Wanganui on Saturday judging by his final trial at Awapuni Thursday morning.

Fast work during a very light gallop session was on the synthetic track.

Belardo Boy could not have been more impressive when cutting out 1000m in 1.6.1, the last 600 in 35.2.

He resumed under a big weight at Te Rapa two weeks ago, finishing fourth in the open 1300m, won by Aris Aris.

Reign It In, who was disappointing last start, was sent 800m in 51.5, sprinting the last 600 in 36.5. He missed the jump badly at Trentham and then over-raced in the middle stages, finishing last of eight.

A Vespa gelding and an Alamosa filly, both trained by Mike Breslin, ran 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 37.8, while their stablemates Crouch and unraced two-year-old Kereti (Darci Brahma-Heni) took 53.1 and 38.7.

Donnybrook and Nun So Bad were paired over 1000m in 1.6.7, the last 600 in 40.8, and Bradman, winner of two of his last four races, was kept to 1000m in 1.10 even, the last 600 in 41.1.

Bradman is stepping up to 1600 metres for the first time on Saturday and will be ridden by Warren Kennedy in the weight-for-age feature at Wanganui.
