Far Site Worth Respect At Long Odds
By RON GURNEY | April 13, 2023

Hawke's Bay Cup outsider Far Site took the time honours during a quiet gallop session at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work was held on the course proper or the synthetic track.

Far Site used the course proper and gathered speed from the 1000m to run home the final 800m in 51.9, the last 600 in 36.6.

The Makfi mare won over 2000 metres at Hastings last September, but was well beaten in the Manawatu Cup (2300m) just before Christmas.

Auckland Cup winner Platinum Invador, who was fourth in the Awapuni Gold Cup last start, went with three-year-old filly stablemate Unscripted over 1000m, being timed the final 800m in 50.1, the last 600 in 36.7.

Kana, in at Te Rapa on Saturday (3yo 1200m), worked alone over an even 800m in 55.5, the last 600 in 39.1.

She was beaten narrowly at Tauherenikau last start and northern apprentice Tayla Mitchell (a2) has been engaged for the ride.

On the synthetic track, Nun So Bad and Sequoia Dawn were paired over 800m in 54.8, the last 600 in 39.3, while their stablemates Papa Surf and Albufeira took 56.3 and 40.1.
