Faustian Bargain was not asked for her best in a final lead-up run when she galloped at Awapuni this morning.

Fast work during a very light session was on the plough, with just one trial recorded on the synthetic track.

Faustian Bargain, a last-start maiden winner at Wanganui (1600m) used the plough and had trainer Ashley Meadows aboard over a quiet round before increasing the tempo to run 1000m in 1.17.8, the last 600 in 42.1.

Meadows could not be happier with the younger half-sister to stablemate Meglio Di Falcrest and feels the mare will give another good account of herself if she starts at New Plymouth on Saturday (MAAT 1800m).

Time honours on the plough went to unraced two-year-old fillies Thrilling (by Shocking) and Honoka (by Staphanos), who were paired over 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 37.2.

Thrilling finished third at the Foxton trials (1000m) two weeks ago, and both fillies are trained by Lisa Latta.

Unraced three-year-old Identikit (by Ocean Park) and unraced two-year-old Rithim (by Time Test), two more from the Latta barn, ran 800m in 51.6, the last 600 in 37.3.

Both fillies were placed in respective heats at the Foxton trials two weeks ago and at the Levin jump-outs last month. Rithim is a half-sister to smart racemare Belclare.

Gum Basher and unraced three-year-old filly Sweet As Tavi (by Tavistock) were locked together over 1000m in 1.14.8, the last 600 in 39.4.

Top galloper He's A Doozy, who has not raced since finishing eighth of 12 in the Canterbury Gold Cup in mid-April, cruised over 800m in 58.1, the last 600 in 40.2.

On the synthetic track, last-start synthetic winner Pleasing had unraced four-year-old mare Hips Don't Lie (by Mongolian Khan) for a partner over 800m in 56.7, the last 600 in 40.3.
