Maiden three-year-old Lincoln Towers showed his continued improvement with a very satisfactory gallop at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

Fast work was held on the plough (good) and on the synthetic track.

Lincoln Towers (by U S Navy Flag) used the plough and sped over 1000m in 1.4.2, the last 600 in 35.2. He is working boldly, and two races under the belt in a new campaign have brought him forward.

Jack Morrison (by Darci Brahma) and an unnamed stablemate were timed 1000m in 1.3.1, the last 600 in 35.6.

Top hurdler Berry The Cash did a quiet round before speeding up from the 1200m mark to run his final 1000m in 1.2.9, easing toward the finish to clock 37.3 for the last 600.

His stablemates Super Flash and Dal Kilchoan were paired over 1000m in 1.3.4, the last 600 in 37.7.

Saturday's Otaki entrant Final Chapter (mdn mile No 2) covered 1000m in 1.7.8, the last 600 in 38.9, while Donnybrook and Nun So Bad, rivals in the r65 mile, took 1.8.9 and 38.3.

Lincoln Star (r75 2100m), who has won two of his last four, worked alone over 1000m in 1.6.5, the last 600 in 39.5, and Ruffhouse Rosie (r65 2100m) came up with 1.8.1 and 39.6.

Four-year-old mare Ledago, who debuts in the maiden mile No 2, went with unraced four-year-old The Liquidator over 1000m in 1.9.6, the last 600 in 39.5.

Ledago (by Almanzor), trained by the Fannin-Schofer partnership, finished a close second at the Foxton trials last week, while The Liquidator (by War Decree) is trained by Leon Mudgway.

Kana, in the r75 1200m at Otaki, was kept to 1000m in 1.9.7, the last 600 in 39.9, and she will be ridden on Saturday by Kavish Chowdoory, who is based at Awapuni temporarily.

Unraced four-year-old mare Shirley Temple (by Vespa) and unraced three-year-old filly Fou The Noo (by Alamosa) did 800m in 56.3, the last 600 in 40.1. They are trained by Mike Breslin.

Coney Island did a quiet round before speeding up to run a quiet 1000m in 1.14.5, the last 600 in 44.1. He is the form runner for Saturday's maiden mile No 1 at Otaki.

On the synthetic track, Hips Don't Lie (by Mongolian Khan), Kereti (by Darci Brahma) and a Vespa gelding went 800m together in 52.3, the last 600 in 38.6.

Afterthought (by So You Think) and a Vespa gelding recorded 54.4 and 38.7, and these five all belong to the Breslin barn as well.

Sotirio, who ran an eye-catching fourth when resuming at Trentham last month, was not extended to run 1000m in 1.8.8, the last 600 in 39.1.

His stablemate Kawatiri, one of the favourites to win the maiden mile No 2 on Saturday, was not seeking time over 800m in 55.9, the last 600 in 40.6.

Barzetti, also trained by Matthew Eales, resumes in the r75 1200m and finished his 800m with 600 in 42.6.
