Fashion Icon and Havarti on the synthetic track and Cheval de Foudre on the plough were star performers at Awapuni this morning.

Fashion Icon and Havarti paired up on the synthetic track and reeled off 1000m in 1.3.3, the last 600 in 34.9.

Fashion Icon was a smart last-start winner at Trentham and returns to the same venue this Saturday (3yo 1400m), when Havarti (r65 1000m) will join her.

Town Cryer (TAB Classic) and Sweetjineen (r75 1400m), two more nominated for Trentham, lost no kudos and were on terms throughout a bold 1000m in 1.1.6, the last 600 in 35.4.

Platinum Assault (Trentham), who finished second last start, worked alone over a nice 1000m in 1.3.6, the last 600 in 35.2, and he appears to have come of age.

Lincoln's Kruz (Trentham) had Jonathan Riddell aboard over 1000m in 1.2.1, the last 600 in 36.2, while Donnybrook (Trentham) and Crouch recorded 1.4 even and 36.9.

Love For All, trained by Bryce Newman, gathered speed from the 1000m to complete the final 800m in 47.7, the last 600 in 36.1, and Rev It Up Rusty ended with 600m in 36.8.

Trentham entrants Tivaci Princess and stablemate Sizzle left 1000m behind in 1.5.8, the last 600 in 37.2. Tivaci Princess, a last-start winner, has since finished second in a Foxton trial.

Albufeira and Call A Friend went 1000m together in 1.6.8, the last 600 in 37.9, while Kattegat and Bucks Night gathered speed from the 1000m to finish with 800m in 48.9 and 37.1.

Showbastian Coe and three-year-old stablemate Revolt (by War Decree) covered 800m in 50.6, the last 600 in 38.4. Revolt has not raced since July, but has put two recent trial seconds under the belt.

All other fast work was on the plough (good), where last-start maiden winner Cheval de Foudre (by Time Test) was impressive running 800m in 47 seconds flat, the last 600 in 34.7. He is entered for Trentham.

Ruffhouse Rosie, in at New Plymouth on Thursday (r65 2000m), and Manifique were paired in a bold gallop of their own and left 1000m behind in 1.2.1, the last 600 in 35 seconds even. Manifique bolted in last start and there could be more to come at Trentham (open 2200m).

Their stablemates Centre Paige (New Plymouth) and Giannis covered 1000m in 1.3 even, the last 600 in 35.6, and Princessa Gold (Trentham) went alone in 1.3.9 and 35.9.

Belardo Boy, in Saturday's TAB Classic at Trentham, was at a good clip early over 1000m in 60.7, the last 600 in 36.7. He could not be fitter.

He No Opilio (Trentham), who continues to work well, did a quiet round before galloping 1000m in 1.3.1, the last 600 in 36.7, while Textbook (Trentham) and Thursday runner Trustworthy (r60 1400m) went together in 1.3.5 and 36.8.

Unraced Darci Brahma gelding Jack Morrison, trained by Mark Oulaghan, ran 1000m in 1.4.4, the last 600 in 36.6, while Nun So Bad and Sanperion, both very keen early, clocked 1.2.7 and 37 seconds even.

Richter and New Plymouth entrant Dealornodeal (mdn 1800m), both trained by Lydia Pickford, covered 1000m in 1.4.9, the last 600 in 37.4, and Main Street, a maiden winner in June, took 1.6.1 and 37.7.

Rocking Light (by Rock 'n' Pop), not seen since January, caught the eye with his 800m in 48.5, the last 600 in 37.1, and Maggie McMuffin posted 50.6 and 37.8.

Lurid did two strong rounds, with a 600m sprint at the end of each one in 37.8 and 39.7 respectively. He has not raced since early October, but is ticking over nicely.

Sailor Jack, who has had a short break, ran 1000m in 1.7 even, the last 600 in 38.5, while Dawn Shadow and a Staphanos filly went together in 1.9.2 and 38.8.

Parisian Poppy and unraced Alamosa gelding Craftsman went 800m in 49.7, the last 600 in 38.7, and their stablemates Hungry (r65 2000m) and Thirsty (mdn 1800m), both in at New Plymouth, took 50.3 and 38.1.

Freedom Reins (r60 1400m)  left 1000m behind in 1.8.6, the last 600 in 39.6, while unraced three-year-old filly Poppy's Girl (by Harry Angel) and Fourty Eight were kept to 1.13.2 and 39.9.

Love Tania, last seen in July, and a Staphanos filly were not chasing the clock over 800m in 57.5, the last 600 in 41.6. Neither was Lady Performer (Trentham), who took 59.6 and 40.9.
