Meglio Di Falcrest is continuing to hold her best form judging by a bold semi-final gallop at Awapuni this morning.
Fast work was held on the synthetic track or on the plough (good).

Meglio Di Falcrest used the synthetic track and did a quiet round before speeding up to run an impressive 1000m in 60.7, the last 600 in 34.6.

It was a long time between drinks when she returned to winning form at Woodville last month, but then followed up with a game second at the same venue last start.

Maiden mare Kawatiri, a close third at Trentham three weeks ago, covered 1000m in 1.7.4, the last 600 in 37.8, and she will be tough to beat at Otaki on Saturday.

Her stablemate Barzetti (r75 1200m) was timed 1000m in 1.6.3, the last 600 in 38.7, and has had two trials so far in readiness for a new campaign. He has not raced since Boxing Day.

All other gallops were on the plough, where last-start winner Farrenc (r75 1200m) and unraced four-year-old mare Ledago (by Almanzor) ran 1000m in 1.3 even, the last 600 in 35.3.

Ledago was placed at the Foxton trials last week and is down to debut at Otaki.

Lurid, third in the Woodville Cup (r75) last start, and Lincoln Star were paired over the same distance in 1.2.5, the last 600 in 35.9. Lincoln Star has won two of his last four races. They are entered for Otaki.

Semper Magico was at a fast clip early over 1000m in 1.1.4, easing to finish with 600 in 36.7. Two races in a new campaign have brought him up to pitch for Saturday’s open mile.

Donnybrook and Nun So Bad were on terms throughout their 1000m in 1.3.5, the last 600 in 36.8. They go to Otaki as well.

Donnybrook won fresh up in November and in seven starts since has recorded a second, third and fourth.

Kana (r75 1200m) and Hasbulla were locked together over 1000m in 1.8.1, the last 600 in 38.6, while their stablemate Far Site (r75 2100m) went alone in 1.8.4 and 39.9. Cry Baby was kept to 800m in 57.9, the last 600 in 40.1.
