Three-year-old filly Pleasing and four-year-old mare Call A Friend earned plenty of admirers for up-coming events when they worked at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

All fast gallops were on the synthetic track, with just one recorded on the plough (heavy).

Pleasing and Call A Friend used the synthetic track and were paired over 1000m in 1.7.1, with the final 800m taking 50.1, the last 600 in 36.6.

Pleasing won a maiden two-year-old at Awapuni in June, won a Foxton trial last month and has since finished second back at Awapuni.

Call A Friend has not raced since her seventh placing in the NZ Oaks in March, but is making solid progress in a new campaign.

Bryce Newman-trained maiden Altezza (by Turn Me Loose), not seen since last summer. reeled off 800m in 51.3, the last 600 in 36.3, and her older stablemate Rue Cler (2 wins) recorded 51.6 and 36.3. She has been out since November.

Wanganui entrant Sweetjineen was another to work alone and covered 1000m in 1.5.3, coming the final 800m in 51.3, the last 600 in 37.3.

Zackery was timed 800m in 52.6, the last 600 in 38.7, while Great Escape and unraced four-year-old mare Testing (by Time Test) took 53.9 and 38 even.

Lets All Boogie, who worked impressively last Thursday, ran 800m in 54.1, the last 600 in 38.5, and her unraced stablemates Jazlene (by Proisir) and Crafty Carrie (by Staphanos) went together in 55.1 and 38.8.

Top mare Sugah Sweet had trainer Bryce Newman aboard over 800m in 54. seconds even, the last 600 in 39 even, and her unraced stablemates Street Appeal (by Ardrossan) and Blue Jeanie (by Satono Aladdin) clocked 55 even and 39.6.

Unraced four-year-old gelding Chance Taken (by Unusual Suspect) sprinted 600m in 39.4, and Queen Of Spades was kept to 800m in 58.1, the last 600 in 42.8.

Papa Surf and Sevenayes, who were entered for Wanganui, were given an easy time as well, covering 800m in 60.2, the last 600 in 43 even. Rushin Home and a Bivouac filly, two more with Mike Breslin, did little more than three-quarter pace over 600m.

On the plough, improving four-year-old maiden Super Gold did a quiet round and a half before quickening a shade to complete 600m in 44.7.
